Peillon, the suspended village

A medieval village built in a pyramid on an isolated rocky outcrop, so photogenic it regularly appears in ad campaigns without anyone recognising it.
No car can enter the village: you park below and climb stone stairways between the houses. The Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs, decorated with 15th-century frescoes, can be visited on request at the nearby tourist office.
