The Rue Obscure
A street entirely covered since the 13th century, running through the old town of Villefranche-sur-Mer beneath the houses themselves.
Cool even in high summer, the Rue Obscure once sheltered residents from coastal bombardment. Today it's an almost secret passage between two sunlit lanes, with light falling through in intermittent patches.
