The old town of Grasse
The world capital of perfume, whose stepped old town hides a maze of lanes and vaulted passages far less visited than its perfumeries.
The tall, narrow houses, built into the hillside, create the receding perspectives typical of old Grasse. Three major perfume houses, Fragonard, Molinard and Galimard, offer free tours of their historic workshops — a good way to understand the town beyond the postcard.
